How Foundry works behind the scenes: what we store, who sees what and what we do when something goes wrong. The numbers below are counted directly from the log.

What we store

Your profile, threads, comments, journeys, numbers and channel messages. Evidence for verification is stored as a link that only you and admins can see.

Who sees what

Everything in the network is visible to approved members only. None of it is indexed by search engines. This page is the only thing visible publicly, and it only shows totals.

Encrypted direct messages

Direct messages are encrypted in your browser before they are sent. The server only stores encrypted text and cannot read the content. Who wrote to whom and when is visible to the server, though. Channel messages are not encrypted this way; they are protected by login, permissions and encryption in transit.

Anonymous threads

Your name isn't shown to other members. In cases of serious abuse, a moderator can see who wrote a post, but only with a written reason that is always logged and counted above.

Verification

Badges and numbers can be verified by an admin against evidence. If you change a verified number, the verification is removed automatically. Every verification is logged with a reason.

Moderation

Posts that break the rules can be hidden. Every action requires a reason and is logged. Nobody can moderate encrypted direct messages, since no one but the sender and recipient can read them.
